Le site de l’IHA, en évolution permanente, offre un accès direct à de nombreuses ressources documentaires (en français et en anglais) : les catalogues de la bibliothèque, des documents imprimés ainsi que des travaux d’auteurs sont depuis peu en ligne. Le catalogue des fonds d’archives sera consultable à partir de mai 2007. Des ressources inédites comme une base de données biographique et un outil de recherche chronologique y sont également accessibles. Des informations utiles y attendent les étudiants et chercheurs.

histalu.lalettre / histalu.thenewsletter se veut un moyen de resserrer les liens entre les membres de la « communauté d’intérêts » qui s’est au fil des ans rassemblée autour de l’histoire et du patrimoine du « si léger métal ». Elle se veut aussi un moyen d’élargir cette communauté à de nouveaux participants un peu partout dans le monde.

Le numéro 36 des Cahiers d’histoire de l’aluminium vient de paraître ! Proposant un « mélange » de textes, d’horizons et de thèmes variés, il illustre une démarche née il y a … vingt ans !
L’anniversaire de l’IHA a donné lieu à une conférence en deux temps dont on trouvera ici la transcription. Du « métal qui valait de l’or » dans les années 1850 aux perspectives pour l’industrie de l’aluminium au XXIe siècle, ces Cahiers exposent l’aluminium à des regards multiples et complémentaires.

This is the first number of the newsletter of the Institute for the History of Aluminium (IHA), histalu.thenewsletter. You will find regularly the latest news of the IHA and of the world of the history of aluminium in general. This letter is a complement and an extension of our website (www.histalu.org) to inform you in real time of our principal activities and of the news of our Institute.

The website of the IHA, in permanent evolution, offers a direct access to a number of documentary resources (in French and in English): the catalogues of the library and of the printed documents as well as of the authors’ works which have recently been put online. The catalogue of the archives will be available in May 2007. As yet unseen resources are also available: a
biographical database and a
chronological research tool. Useful information awaits the interest of students and researchers.
We invite you to navigate on the site to discover the wealth of information, to give us suggestions and to make the site known on your environment.
histalu.thenewsletter would like to establish firm and close links among the members of the “interest community” which has developed over the years around the history and the heritage of the “so light metal”. This letter also wants to be a means to widen this community to include new participants everywhere in the world.
The highlight of the issue…
The number 36 of the Cahiers d’histoire de l’aluminium has just been published! This issue is a “mixture” of texts: various themes and horizons update the thinking which began… 20 years ago! For the anniversary of the IHA, a conference has been held and the papers have been published in this number. From “the metal [which] was equal to gold” in the 1850’s to the perspective for the aluminium industry in the 21st century, the number 36 of the Cahiers d’histoire de l’aluminium exhibits aluminium from multiple and complementary outlooks.
