Since 2005, Institut pour l'histoire de l'aluminium has awarded study grants to Canadian students for research work relating to the history of aluminium. A commission, chaired by Patrick Fridenson, research director at École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (Paris) and made up of French and Canadian scholars as well as professionals, selects applicants on presentation of a research project. In addition, other forms of aid are proposed to foster better knowledge of the industrial environment, for example easier access to companies’ archives and to documentation, inclusion in the association’s standing research committees and meetings with aluminium industry witnesses.
In 2006, these grants will amount to 3,270 Canadian dollars (with the possibility of renewal for thesis/dissertation students). |
