WARNING : IHA’s Research Grants programme has been suspended. No Grants will be provided in the 2010-2011 academic year.

This programme is open to all students at a university, regardless of nationality. Applicants must be in a research year (1st and 2nd-year master’s, final year diploma, doctorate, etc.) or in training (e.g. 2nd-year master’s giving professional qualifications).

Grant amounts
Grant amounts are set annually (for 2008/2009, the amount is 2,300 euros). The grant is paid in two instalments.

Deadline, documents to be provided
Grant applications must reach IHA by post and by e- mail before November 1st, 2008. Students will be informed of IHA’s decision on December 1st, 2008.

Application must include :
    a/ a résumé/curriculum vitae
    b/ a covering letter
    c/ a 3 or 4-page description (research project and basic bibliography)
    d/ a university enrolment certificate
    e/ a letter of recommendation from your research supervisor, in a sealed envelope.

Selection
Grants are awarded annually. Applications are examined by the IHA scientific committee, which submits the most worthwhile projects in its judgement to the institute’s officers.

Priority will be given to research with one of the following objectives :
  • Develop research in a variety of disciplines (economic but also sociological history, law, history of art, history of sciences, etc.) or interdisciplinary research.
  • Foster international studies and comparative history, particularly with an opening onto Europe an North America.
  • Foster studies on sustainable development and aluminium industry (history, geography, management...)
